New to DJT program? Checkout our Theatre Classes and our Dance Classes!

We have the cast & crew list for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs complete. We also have selected our Ensemble group for this term. Additionally, you will find postings for our Crew, Front of House Teams, and Showtime Pals.

We will be in touch soon regarding Teaching Apprenticeships. These positions need to be decided amongst our entire staff here at DJT. We will contact Teaching Apprentices individually, using contact info supplied.

Thanks again to all the students who auditioned! We mean it here at Davenport Junior Theatre when we say you should all be very proud of your audition. You were all very brave and we were really impressed with your talents.

Unfortunately, we were not able to cast everyone who auditioned as we have a limited number of roles. Many considerations go into selecting a cast. We have to cast a variety of students, considering ages, heights, gender, skill sets, etc. to make the story the best it can be and fulfill the vision of our director and design team.

Whether you were cast or not, we have included a list of other awesome opportunities coming up here at DJT that you should consider! We will have many, many more Mainstage productions and the best thing you can do between now and then is stay involved and keep learning!

Should you have any additional questions about the audition process, do not hesitate to e-mail our Artistic Director, Daniel Sheridan, or call 563/888-2216. He would be happy to chat with you about the audition.

Whether you were cast in Mainstage production or not, we hope that you will continue to explore Theatre and Dance at DJT. Be sure to check out all the great opportunities!

Classes begin next week, September 8!

Theatre Classes
We’ve expanded our class offerings to continue to challenge all our students.
In particular, we’ve added an Intermediate and Advanced Acting course structure
to be sure we challenge you as actors!

Dance for Theatre
Time to get ready for our Spring musical, Rumplestiltskin!
This is a crossover class perfect for students interested in both theatre and dance!
Students learn basic dance moves that are used in theatre musical performances,
as well as basic tap and jazz skills that are valuable to any stage performer.

Acting Professional
In particular, students 10 years and up should take a look at our “Acting Professional” class.
This class focuses on the life of a professional actor with a particular emphasis on the audition.
Audition technique is key to getting cast. The class also goes on tour to local area theatres
like Circa ’21, ComedySportz, QC Theatre Workshop, and more!

Listed below is the cast and crew for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

We will not be doing a mailing for this production like we usually do. Due to the limited time between now and our first rehearsal, we will have your complete packet for you on the first day of rehearsal. In this packet, there will be a detailed schedule, script, information about payment, registration forms and other important documents. Please take time to look them all over as a family.

You will receive an e-mail from our Artistic Director, Daniel Sheridan, on Friday. The e-mail will contain more details and a preview of the information found in the packets you will receive on Saturday.

The first rehearsal will be Saturday, September 6 from 12:30-2:30pm. We would also like the crew to attend rehearsal if they are available. Our next rehearsal will be for all actors Sunday, September 7 from 6:30-8:00pm (no crew).. We have completed the entire rehearsal and performance schedule for the next 7 weeks and will give it to you in your packet on our first day of rehearsal. Daniel Sheridan will also send it in an e-mail tomorrow.

Parents' Meeting: On the first day of rehearsal, we ask parents to join us for the opening 30 minutes. We have important information for you and the kids that we’d love to share! We’ll also have a chance to field any and all questions you may have as well.

Our apologies for springing rehearsal on you so suddenly! For various reasons, auditions were pushed back by a week later than normal. We can promise we almost never spring things on families. We know how busy you all are and fully respect that!

Be sure to bring a pencil to rehearsal.

Actor registration is $75.00. Tech Crew and Assistant Stage Manager registration is $40.00. There is no fee for Front-of-House or Showtime Pal. Payment may be made on the first day of rehearsal, or by the second rehearsal. Details will be found in your packets.

If you are on a Crew, you will receive a specific schedule of when you need to be at rehearsals. The schedule will be found in your packet. Generally, the crew begins attending rehearsals roughly 14 days before the show opens.

Saturday, September 6 – Friday, October 17
(Schedule will be compiled after auditions. We try to take into consideration students' schedules.)

Tech Week:
Wednesday, October 8 – Friday, October 17

*We will be in touch soon about the Front-of-House! It is a lot of fun. Just like the audition, the experience begins the moment the audience walks in the door. And you will be the ones to make the first impression! Your work in the lobby sets the stage for the show. Not required to be at opening rehearsal.

Showtime Pals:
Victoria K, Sarah F, Emma B, Inna G
*Actors playing Showtime Pal will be contacted by Artistic Director Daniel Sheridan at a later date. There will be one rehearsal scheduled prior to the show. Showtime Pal may be the most important role in all of Junior Theatre and we are excited to have you as part of this long tradition! Not required to be at opening rehearsal.

We have also selected a group of actors from the auditions who were interested in our Ensemble opportunity.

Suzy Lewis, longtime Junior Theatre director, will be leading our Ensemble actors. The group of 8 will be given two plays. Each play has 4 characters. You will play the main part in one play and understudy for the other. You’ll learn two parts! Ensemble performs at our class showcases and we try to find a few “away shows” that will take you out into the community.

Students cast in the Ensemble will rehearse between September 29 – November 12. We will be in touch with additional information about the Ensemble in approximately one week. Rehearsals will be Mondays & Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30pm, starting on Monday, September 29. We know that some of you have other commitments that may make you late. No worries! We’ll work with it. More to come!

Performances for the group take place during DJT class showcases. We will also have some “Away Shows.” Students may take other Junior Theatre classes and still participate in the Ensemble.

Performance Dates:
November 17 - 20 : Monday - Thursday : 4:45 - 8:30pm (Shows @ 5:30pm & 7:30pm)
November 22, Saturday : 10:15am - 1:00pm (Shows @ 10:00am & Noon)
*Students will not be required to be there at both shows, just one. More specifics to come later, but we wanted you to have these dates.

There is a $75.00 enrollment fee for the Ensemble. Payment may be made at the first Ensemble rehearsal by cash or check. Information will be sent to you in your packet.

Please contact us should you have any questions. Again, more details coming soon!
