Summer Repertory Program
Every year Davenport Junior Theatre will tour the Quad Cities and surrouding community, performing at libraries, parks and other places where people gather. Originally known as the “Gypsy Camp,” the traveling company is at the heart of how Junior Theatre began 59 years ago. Summer Repertory brings short plays and games to many venues during the four weeks of its touring season. Come on out and join us for this free event. The whole family is sure to have a great time. Performances are approximately 30 minutes in length and consist of two plays, interactive songs, and other fun. The shows are new each week, so you can come again and a again!
Summer Repertory Touring Schedule : 2011
Schedule for the 2011 tour will be announed in May 2011. Tour occurs during the month of July.
Performances are FREE for the audience! Shows run approximately 30 minutes and consist of two plays & interactive songs. Fun for all ages.
Performances start promptly at scheduled time. Please arrive 15 minutes early for good seating.
New shows are presented each week, so you can come again and again all through July of 2011.
Getting Involved with Summer Repertory
In case you are interested in being a Summer Repertory actor, stagehand or technician in the summer of 2011, here is the information you may need to know.
Students must commit two weeks at a time: one week for rehearsals (afternoons) and one week for performances (mornings). See below for scheduling specifics.
Performers interested in auditioning must age between 8-18 and have previous theatre experience (either classes or performing / Does not need to be experience from Davenport Junior Theatre). A different local director will work with the students each week. If selected for the company, there is a small fee of $40 to offset touring costs and accomodate for the advance trainning actors receive from professional directors.
AUDITION DATES ARE TBA: Will be announced in March, 2011.
Auditions are held at Junior Theatre on the Annie Wittenmyer Complex
Students may audition for specific weeks or all four (See below for performance weeks)
Students need only bring their creativity and imagination to the audition
Students must have previous theatre experience, whether from Junior Theatre or other involvment
Enrollment is $40.00 per week to offset touring costs
Enrollment will be made available after the audition dates for those who are cast and accept.
Rehearsal/Performance Dates 2010 (a sample schedule for 2011)
Performance Week I:
Rehearsals June 28 - July 1 1:30-3:15 PM
Performances July 5 - July 8 8:00-Noon
Performance Week II:
Rehearsals July 5 – 8 1:30-3:15 PM
Performances July 12 – 15 8:00-Noon
Performance Week III:
Rehearsals July 12 – 15 1:30-3:15 PM
Performances July 19 – 22 8:00-Noon
Performance Week IV:
Rehearsals July 19 – 22 1:30-3:15 PM
Performances July 26 – 29 8:00-Noon
Students must be available for rehearsal & performance dates of week selected to be considered.
