Update from the Artistic Director
Daniel DP Sheridan
This update begins in gratitude; Overwhelming gratitude for all those who have supported Davenport Junior Theatre so well over my brief two year tenure.
Thank you to Davenport Parks and Recreation Staff and Management, particularly Seve Ghose (Parks Director) and Theresa Hauman (Recreation Manager). Through their continued efforts and support, our facility has seen and will continue to see great improvements. The most exciting is our new parking lot that will be installed right in front of our theatre! For the parking lot, we also thank our aldermen and the Historical Preservation Committee for their diligent efforts. In addition to the parking lot, we will be getting a new roof, new windows, a caste of Showtime Pal out front, and revamping the interior of our cottages. You will see many new changes here over the next 12 months!
Thank you to Junior Theatre Incorporated and all the volunteers who keep our Mainstage Acting Company alive. Each year we produce four fully realized, professionally developed productions on our stage. We use professional directors and designers to work alongside our students. This season I have the pleasure of welcoming Aaron Randolph III on board as our new Managing/Producer. He will be leading the Mainstage Company. Aaron is a wonderful teacher, great performer, and an awesome Dad! Welcome Aaron!
Thank you to my staff. Many people come together to make programming possible, from Teaching Artists to Junior Staff to Front Desk to volunteers. Due to their vigilant efforts and professionalism, we can boast that we have had a 400% increase in our programming over the last two years. We hope to continue this success in the fall and take Junior Theatre to new heights, offering all new classes and workshops!
And a big special thanks to the parents. Without their constant love, support, and commitment to their children (driving them to and from, back and forth), Junior Theatre would not be possible. As they continue to invest in their children, we will do our best to bring all students the skills that allow them to communicate clearly, confidently, and creatively. No matter where life may take them.
Lastly, thank you to my own family. It may only be me, my wife, my cat, and my bird, but they support me through the long hours I work and encourage the passions I have. Not everyone is so lucky. I am more grateful than they will ever know.
So thanks to all! Please continue to support Davenport Junior Theatre in any way you can. In particular, help us spread the word to as many people as possible that we are still here, still growing, and still a place where theatre happens “for kids, by kids.”
